Together, Planting A Forest.

Myanmar is a land of valleys and hills with mountains in the north, east, and west regions of the country. Planting trees in Myanmar will help promote biodiversity and improve water quality. Learn more

With your help, we will:

  • Protect wildlife habitat and increase biodiversity
  • Enact erosion control and improve soil & water quality
  • Impact local communities by increasing access to drinking water
  • Myanmar is known for its varying land. While the country has vast hills and valleys, mountain ranges can also be found in the north, east, and west regions. For many travellers, Myanmar is known as the "Golden Land" for its glowing pagodas. Despite its beauty, about 7 percent of Myanmar's land has been deforested throughout the years because of severe logging, expanding plantations, and general land degradation. By planting trees in Myanmar, we are working to help restore these lands to what they once were. Our Myanmar project will help plant a number of trees, including mangroves, to restore and improve surrounding lands.
  • Reforestation in Myanmar will help improve the biodiversity of the country. When mangroves are planted, local fauna will be protected as a result, including a number of reptiles, amphibians, and mammals. By promoting biodiversity, this project will help improve the ecosystems of the degraded lands. Mangroves also form a natural protective buffer between land and water. This will help prevent further erosion while also improving the quality of water and soil by filtering pollutants and trapping sediments.
  • A personalized tree certificate (see gallery) to say thanks for your donation. We'll also send you reports on our Myanmar project, so you can track the impact your trees are having on the community and environment.
  • We always plant a mix of diverse, native species from local nurseries. This project is working to restore land and promote erosion control, so the native species grown in the nurseries include different types of mangroves.

About Myanmar

Myanmar is known for its glittering temples of pagodas, earning the name the "Golden Land" for many travellers. The natural land of Myanmar is full of varying degrees, from hills and valleys to mountains in the east and west. The highlands of Myanmar are covered in iron-rich, dark red soil. When properly protected by forest cover, this soil absorbs the country's heavy rain. But years of deforestation from illegal logging and plantation expansion have caused the soils to erode quicker, affecting water quality and pollution.

By planting trees in Myanmar, our project seeks to help enact a degree of erosion control to help provide clean water to local communities and surrounding flora and fauna. The mangroves planted in this project will provide a natural buffer, improving soil and water quality while also protecting local fauna. Myanmar is a country of great beauty, and with every tree planted, that beauty continues to grow.

Why Plant Trees in Myanmar?

Increase Biodiversity

Increase Biodiversity

Due to the deforestation, much of the land in the project has suffered from degradation. By planting these mangroves, local fauna will then be protected, helping to improve the biodiversity and ecosystems of the lands.

Improve Soil and Water Quality

Improve Soil and Water Quality

Mangroves create a protective barrier between water and land. These trees will help stabilize sediments through their tangled root systems, filtering pollutants and trapping sediments to improve soil and water quality.

Impact Local Communities

Impact Local Communities

Due to the rising salinity in the water, communities struggle to find access to clean drinking water. Because this project helps to improve water quality, access to clean water will increase for local communities, helping to improve their everyday lives by providing basic necessities.
