Matt Hill, MBA, MSc

Founder and President

Matt founded One Tree Planted, Inc. in 2014 with a passionate commitment to the environment and global reforestation. With an MBA in marketing and a Masters degree in sports management, he excels at business management and entrepreneurship. Prior to establishing One Tree Planted, Matt co-founded Sonomax and Liquid Nutrition Inc. which were both publicly traded on the TSX. He also co-founded EcoSteps Distribution, the largest wholesaler of environmentally friendly packaging throughout Canada. Eager to share his business knowledge, he was a professor for eleven years at John Abbott College and Concordia University in Montreal, Quebec, teaching marketing, accounting, and e-commerce to his students. Matt is driven to make a difference in the world and inspires his team through his leadership and solid business acumen.

Ian Booler, CPA, CA

Secretary

Ian is a senior executive with dual competencies in financial performance management and business improvement through technology enablement. As Vice-President, Finance at Altitude Sports, Ian has a wealth of experience in financial reporting and analysis, budgeting and financial planning, strategy deployment, and IT application selection and implementation.

Mark Benthin, BEng

As a business entrepreneur, Mark brings over 25 years of global experience in high tech solutions, innovation consulting, commercialization, and management. Serving as Founder, CEO, and Executive Chairman at ViiHealth, Mark helps forward-thinking life sciences organizations improve the way they engage with customers and maximize their digital ROI. Mark has been an officer on One Tree Planted's Board of Directors since 2014, serving as Secretary.

Mark Capombassis, BA

Mark is a seasoned sales executive with a strong background in account management, cost-benefit analysis, sales strategy development, and team management. As President of Jumeaux Inc. Consulting, he brings valuable sales and marketing skills to help acquire new accounts and business opportunities.

Clara Rowe

Clara is the CEO of Restor, a science-based digital platform supporting and accelerating the restoration of Earth’s ecosystems. Before joining Restor, Clara worked in supply chain sustainability in Latin America, engaging large consumer goods companies, plantation owners, and smallholder farmers in order to design and implement solutions to protect forests and respect human rights. Clara has also worked in fishery management, youth development, and environmental education. Clara was born in the U.S., grew up in Costa Rica, and after stints in Mexico and Cameroon now lives in Switzerland. Clara holds a bachelor's in biology and environmental studies from Amherst College and a master's of environmental management from the Yale School of the Environment.

Bill Russell, BA, MA

Bill is a passionate environmentalist and board member of One Tree Planted. He has been a history professor at John Abbott College for the last thirty years and is currently the chair of the History, Economics and Political Science Department. While he acknowledges the challenges we face in combating climate change, Bill remains hopeful for the future of the planet. Having planted over 100,000 trees as a student, Bill understands firsthand the importance of reforestation in combatting climate change and protecting the planet for future generations. He holds a B.A and M.A. in History from Concordia University and has dedicated his career to educating students about the impact of human activity on the environment. As an active member of One Tree Planted since its inception in 2014, Bill has watched in awe as the organization has grown into one of the biggest and best tree planting organizations in the world. He is proud to be a part of a team that is making a real difference in the fight against climate change and believes that by working together, we can create a more sustainable future for all.
